Funding for the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program is caught in the budget battle taking place in Washington, D.C and we need you to speak up for our children.
A huge thanks to the more than 130 superintendents from more than 30 states who signed the letter to support the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program!
Funding for the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program is caught in the budget battle taking place in Washington, D.C. The House of Representatives passed legislation to fund these programs on January 11; however, the Senate never voted on it, and the President never signed it.
After the longest shutdown in the nation’s history, Congressional leaders have come to an agreement on funding levels for 2019 that includes school lunch and breakfast. The House and Senate must pass, and the President must sign, legislation providing this funding by February 15, otherwise the health and nutrition of children and students relying on these meals will be in jeopardy.
