Kinesiology - the Science of Human Movement

The human body is probably one of the most mysterious machines in the world. It has many components working together as one system and the way it functions in relation with itself and its surroundings really impresses. There are many people across the United States who lately have become interested in those processes, in the way the human body moves.

Such people are known as Kinesiologists, originating from the word Kinesiology. Kinesiology is the science studying movement in the human body, including muscle activity, muscle functions and all the structures and mechanics of the body. Future kinesiologists are welcome to study the human body, its movement and physical activity extensively in any of the various kinesiology programs across the United States of America. If you want to find a significant job in the human kinetics field, you must receive a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or human kinetics. Very often, people who have done the work required in the sphere are going to continue their education. Kinesiology degree programs are designed (colleges for fashion design) to prepare graduates for a great number of careers, including coaching, physical education or athletic training. Bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. programs in kinesiology are available. Students also may study applied kinesiology which is used to diagnose and treat medical illnesses in physical therapy, occupational therapy, osteopathic medicine, chiropractic services, and massage therapy.

Due to the fact that kinetics is a rather large business, which involves many graduates working in research, and in the fitness and sports industries, you can register yourself for kinesiology courses at many of the major colleges and universities which may be found all across the United States. If you are not in a location that offers courses in human kinetics there are special programs that are offered at some community colleges. Besides, you may even start an online degree path if you consider going the online route to be more beneficial to your time, schedule and money.

Kinesiology higher institutions suggest the Bachelor's degree, the Master's degree and the Doctor's degree. Kinesiology students in a bachelor's degree program must complete core human kinetics courses. They must also cover certain general education classes, including English composition and introductory psychology. Core kinesiology topics include health and fitness, personal training instruction, sports management, physiology of exercise, motor development and learning. As for the curriculum of M.S. programs in kinesiology it includes emotional aspects of motor performance, statistics in kinesiology, immunology, administration of kinesiology, pulmonary physiology of exercise. The curriculum of doctoral programs in kinesiology usually suggests a number of advanced kinesiology seminars and theoretical research. Thus, students may choose to specialize in a particular area of the field, such as exercise physiology or sport sociology. Seminars may cover topics including legal aspects of sport and recreation, applied kinesiology research issues, psychology of coaching, scientific theory of conditioning, physical education curriculum development.

Before taking any of available kinesiology degree programs across the United States, it would be necessary at first to realize what exactly you need to learn and study and, of course, how this knowledge can help you in the career you have chosen.

Let's give an example. If you are interested in the physical fitness and sports industries you are going to need knowledge of how to evaluate all aspects of human movement, including its functions and performance. In order to be a real specialist in this field you should register yourself in such classes as anatomy and physiology, bio-mechanics etc. You are going to study by using the scientific principles of the mentioned courses. By the way, it is sports industry that hires the greater number of human kinetics graduates.

After covering of these courses and your further graduation from the college or institution, you will be able to use your skills in the rehabilitation of those people who have been physically injured. Besides, you will also be able to apply the learned techniques in order to prevent a person from becoming injured in their environment. This is extremely important if you get employment working for some sports team whose players often get physical injures. So, human kinetics is an important aspect of how our bodies work and function not only for an individual person, but it also plays an important role on a more global level. If you have made a decision to start your career in this field, kinesiology will afford you many opportunities in the workplace to earn money and simultaneously to help others.
